Gold teeth have been used for cosmetic purposes for many years but in some country's they are worn as a status symbol or considered a symbol of wealth. Grillz became used as fashion statements in Miami Florida around the 60s, but it wasn't until the 80s that gold teeth became popular in the hip-hop world.
